Derex is a busy-as-a-beaver producer from Russia who also runs the eclectic netlabel Intox Noise. This first for NOISJ was compiled from a creative spree of tracks to compose a strong and diverse album. Influences range from hardcore and techno over IDM to chiptune, and most of all this is a homage to the golden age of rave. Tracks on the more experimental side are the tribal opener “Reasons to Hate”, the entirely beatless tracks “Dark Symphony”, “Smiling Pills Invasion” and “Another Path”, or the staccato madness of “Androids Rebel Massacre”. Nevertheless there’s also plenty food for the dance floor, like the aptly titled “Little Techno Monster”, the rather industrial “An-Other B.eat
4u” or the anthemis “Pills Tester” and “Favorite Game”, amalgams of sturdy beats and euphoric rave pads. Highly enjoyable, whether under the influence or not!
